someone from island def jam just called the assistant who sits in the cube next to me at work.

i know this because she turned around and asked me what “ireland death jam” was.

as street art projects war in every major city on the globe, london has found itself plagued with little people. the premise surrounds “little handpainted people, left in london to fend for themselves.”

m- i’m on the train home! we could only watch 2 dodos songs before we had to find shade. there were a lot of people there though, which is crazy.

me-yeah, that’s because people are nuts for anything that’s free and your garden variety hipster doesn’t fully understand the importance of sunscreen and hydration.

m-no. clearly they think their raybans offer enough protection for their whole body.

(for many reasons, this convo validated my last minute decision to wimp out of siren)

hey last.fm,

i understand (and can plainly see) that you just had a re-design and while i am trying really hard to be supportive…i want my old page back, please. (and the option to take that red color off and make it black again)

thanks.

last night, in the middle of my attempts to finish organizing my new room, i decided it would be fun to go through my itunes and listen to stuff i haven’t heard in awhile. (i’m all about the cleaning out these days)
i stumbled upon self’s gizmodgery. wow. i had forgotten how much i loved that album. it took me back to my sophomore year of college (also worth noting, i am getting old. crap.)
anyway, say what you will, but i love a good concept album and any album created solely with toy instruments is going to be a winner in my book.

frances trombly is an artist who recreates everyday objects through weaving, stitching, embroidery, and crochet. her goal is to challenge authority and societal norms by asking her audience to ponder the importance of value. here is one of her receipts; notice the intricacy. shit, she must be patient.

this is an advertisement (created by tibor kalman) for the now-closed restaurant florent. apparently, kalman and florent’s owner had the best barter system ever. in exchange for the fantastic ad work, the owner fed all the designers from the company. four days a week, for 8 years.
check out the rest of the ads for restaurant florent here. some seriously great stuff.

having new roommates is really fun.

having new roommates who share similar tastes in literature is even more fun.

but, discovering that you and said roommates have acquired different works by the same authors is brilliant (not to mention convenient). it’s sorta like living in the literature section of strand (which is totally a dream come true).
