as street art projects war in every major city on the globe, london has found itself plagued with little people. the premise surrounds “little handpainted people, left in london to fend for themselves.”

after many failed attempts, i finally saw apes & androids this weekend at the music hall of williamsburg. absolutely incredible. glow sticks, confetti, tribal dancers, black lights and face paint=such a fun live show.

last night, in the middle of my attempts to finish organizing my new room, i decided it would be fun to go through my itunes and listen to stuff i haven’t heard in awhile. (i’m all about the cleaning out these days)

i stumbled upon self’s gizmodgery. wow. i had forgotten how much i loved that album. it took me back to my sophomore year of college (also worth noting, i am getting old. crap.)

anyway, say what you will, but i love a good concept album and any album created solely with toy instruments is going to be a winner in my book.

frances trombly is an artist who recreates everyday objects through weaving, stitching, embroidery, and crochet. her goal is to challenge authority and societal norms by asking her audience to ponder the importance of value. here is one of her receipts; notice the intricacy. shit, she must be patient.

this is an advertisement (created by tibor kalman) for the now-closed restaurant florent. apparently, kalman and florent’s owner had the best barter system ever. in exchange for the fantastic ad work, the owner fed all the designers from the company. four days a week, for 8 years.
