a co-worker has inexplicably started referring to me as “shiloh”. (as in shiloh jolie-pitt)
yeah…i don’t know either. i have a feeling that even my best guess is not going to be good enough for this one.
in 1947, LIFE magazine asked famous comic strip artists to draw their famous characters while blindfolded. the results are great.

i love this photo series. i have a special place in my heart for black and white photos. especially ones that remind me of guy maddin films.
(p.s. many thanks to the always amazing sara zucker for reminding me that i wanted to post these)
i love this photo for two reasons:
a. i’m loving his blazer/hat/hair combo
b. he looks like he has a great story to tell…but only if you could manage to get him talking.

i saw lou reed’s berlin this weekend and i really enjoyed the film. i’m not even going to try and review it.
if you like lou reed, go and see it. his performance and the narrative footage is a great combo. plus, it’s worth it to see antony and sharon jones doing back up vocals.
because some vicious mosquitos decided that i am awesome (also, i am apparently very very allergic to the brooklyn variety) i am at home today taking benadryl and trying to get rid of what a roommate referred to as “the thom yorke eye” (sadly, it’s a good description).
on the upside, i have decided that falling asleep to rain dogs while drowsy from antihistamines is a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
Bye bye baby apartment. It’s been a great year!aww. bye-bye st. marks! i can’t believe we lived in that super tiny space for a whole year. it was fantastic though.
tom waits’ recent atlanta show (glitter and doom tour) is now streaming on npr.
that’s right, all 2 1/2 hours of it. amazing. i wanna fake an illness so i can go home and listen right now.
this book, the arcades project by walter benjamin, was recommended to me this weekend by one of my roommates. i mentally made a note of it since i’m reading three things already (which is crazy, i have to stop doing that).
however, he left the book on the kitchen table yesterday and my curiousity got the best of me. i intended to casually browse through, but before i realized it an hour had passed (thanks mark). fascinating stuff. if you are interested in parisian history, cultural criticism, consumerism, etc. you should give it a try (but be warned, it’s like a thousand pages).
